Apostel and Apostel discuss the fact that we have obnoxious amounts of e-waste – computers, key boards, mice, etc. – and offer recommendations for how curb this waste.
  • We should request a recycle kits at the time of purchase.
  • We should research what happens to outdated machines that go into those kits to encourage that they are being properly recycled.
  • We should look for other who could use the computers – other programs, others on Craigslist, etc.
  • We should use the pull that universities have with legislation and “become part of a coalition to lobby for stronger, safer computer and electronic waste stream recycling laws” (12).
  • We should research what other governments have do to reduce waste and those ideas to build new laws.
